About Us

Heartland began in April 1966 when a construction worker saw the need to purchase a good piece of used construction equipment. Thus became Contractors Hot Line, which started as a newsletter of sorts, listing used heavy construction equipment for sale that people wanted to buy. As the ideas grew, so did the business. In August of 1968, the business became a corporation under the name of Hot Line, Inc.

To better reflect the range of publishing and communicating services provided by Hot Line, Inc. the corporate name was changed to Heartland Communications Group, Inc. in March 1988. Since the beginning of Contractors Hot Line, six other publications were published before the year 1985.

These titles include:

  • Computer Hot Line-1974
  • Farmers Hot Line-1975
  • Aviators Hot Line-1977
  • Printers Hot Line-1977
  • Farm Equipment Guide-1981
  • Industrial Machine Trader-1983.
